# getMeta

getMeta(payload: unknown): undefined | AcpMeta
```

Extract the `_meta` object from any ACP payload (a session update, a
content block, a tool call, …). Returns `undefined` when absent or malformed.

## Parameters

**payload** `unknown` *required*

## Returns

`undefined | AcpMeta`
